McPeek Racing: All racing stables are not created equal

Kenneth G. McPeek is a distinguished American Thoroughbred trainer and bloodstock agent, celebrated for his expertise in both training and horse selection. As of late 2024, McPeek has achieved over 2,000 career wins and amassed more than $131.5 million in earnings.

In 2024, McPeek made history by becoming the first trainer since 1952 to win both the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby in the same year, with Thorpedo Anna and Mystik Dan, respectively.

Throughout his career, McPeek has secured 122 graded stakes victories and a total of 289 stakes wins, including notable triumphs in the 2002 Belmont Stakes with Sarava and the 2020 Preakness Stakes with champion filly Swiss Skydiver beating the boys.

Beyond training, McPeek is renowned for his acumen in horse selection, having purchased yearlings like Curlin, who earned over $10.5 million and became a two-time Horse of the Year, and Einstein (BRZ), a multiple Grade 1 winner with nearly $3 million in earnings.

Born on August 2, 1962 and raised in Lexington, McPeek graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Business Administration and obtained his trainer’s license in 1985.
